Method
 

  1. Whisk flour, baking powder, and salt in a stand mixer.
  2. Slowly add softened vegan butter until dough resembles crumbs.
  3. Gradually mix in sugar until fully incorporated.
  4. Grease three 8-inch pans and pour batter evenly.
  5. Bake at 350°F for 35-40 minutes until toothpicks come out clean.
  6. Let cool 15 minutes before frosting.
  7. Chill cake layers on parchment for 30 minutes before adding fondant.
  8. Apply a crumb coat of frosting before final fondant application.
  9. Use alcohol-free food coloring to tint fondant red, white, and blue.
  10. Assemble flag pattern: white middle layer with red top and bottom layers.
  11. Add star decorations; use buttercream to secure stars.
