Ingredients
  

  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • ¾ cup light brown sugar
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup ground almonds (optional)
  • teaspoon cinnamon (optional)

Method
 

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C)
  2. Line an 8 × 8-inch baking pan with parchment paper
  3. Melt 1/2 cup unsalted butter in a saucepan or microwave
  4. Cool slightly and pour into a mixing bowl
  5. Stir in 1 cup flour, 1/4 tsp salt, 1/4 tsp baking powder, ground almonds, and cinnamon
  6. Add 3/4 cup brown sugar and 1 tsp vanilla extract
  7. Mix on medium speed until smooth and glossy
  8. Pour batter into prepared pan
  9. Bake for 25 minutes until golden and set
  10. Cool completely, then cut into 16 bars
