Classic Strawberry Shortcake

Ingredients
  

Strawberries:
  • 1 lb fresh strawberries
  • ¼ cup sugar
Biscuits:
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 tbsp baking powder
  • 2 tbsp sugar
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • ¾ cup milk
Whipped Cream:
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Slice strawberries and mix with sugar. Let sit 30 minutes.
  2. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  3. Mix dry ingredients, cut in butter, add milk.
  4. Shape dough and bake 12–15 minutes.
  5. Whip cream until soft peaks form.
  6. Assemble biscuits with strawberries and cream.
